As a manga artist known for his long-running popular series, such as “Vagabond”, “Slam Dunk” and “Real”, Inoue Takehiko exhibits 140 scenes in various sizes and a form of “spatial manga” drawn with sumi and a brush, telling a tale that could be read only at this exhibition. This story of Miyamoto Musashi created on the motif of his on-going series, “Vagabond”, is filled with unpredictability and has a knock-down punch. The initial exhibition premiered at the Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo, in the early summer of 2008. For the story uniquely revealed only at the chosen venue, so many people, in addition to manga fans, came rushing from all over the country that the museum had to restrict admission. This overwhelming success prompted the artist to decide on an exhibition tour. Following the <Kumamoto Edition> earlier this year, the tour continues to this <Osaka Edition>, and once again, the story evolves with new additional scenes and settings. |
