Mega Crane Mammoet PTC
3D Artist Marc Potocnik Creates Visualization for World's Largest Crane
Düsseldorf (Germany)-based designer, Marc Potocnik, created a visualization of this metal giant for the Parasol Island film, animation and design production agency for use in a television documentary for the German television network, Kabel Eins.
In addition to the Mammoet PTC's huge dimensions, its role in the assembly of the power plant's boiler house, for which the Mammoet lifted up to 300 tons to heights of over 170 meters, had to be demonstrated.
With the help of on-site visits, numerous photos and various construction blueprints, Marc was able to model, animate and render the Mammoet in just twelve days using CINEMA 4D.
"Thanks to CINEMA 4D's excellent modeling tools, outstanding object management and fast renderer a highly detailed 3D model of the Mammoet PTC was created, down to the very last truss", explaines Marc. "This made it possible to create views and animations of the colossus that would otherwise not be possible in the real world."
